CHECK THE INPUT BEFORE EXPLAINING THE RESULT

Search snippet preview

Preview a proposed title and description before publishing. Check readability and page promises while allowing for device differences and Google rewrites.

Start a check

Calculators and snippet preview run in your browser. Syntax checks send input to this server without publishing a result page. Do not paste tokens, passwords or private client data.

Result and scope

Waiting for input. No result is not zero.

Use the check to solve a problem

  1. Write the promise the page actually delivers.
  2. Preview desktop and narrow layouts.
  3. Check real query/result evidence before recording a change.

Preview a promise your page can deliver

Enter a proposed title and description, then read them as a person deciding whether to open the page. Put the specific task early and remove claims the body does not support. A readable preview is a drafting aid, not an exact pixel reproduction of Google's results.

Inspect both a wide and a narrow browser layout. Device, query and result features can change the available space, and Google can replace either text. Character counts alone cannot guarantee an untruncated or unchanged snippet.

Before publishing, capture the relevant query and page in Search Console's performance report. Record the date and compare a later complete window with matching filters. Search Console does not store a definitive history of every displayed snippet, so also inspect the real search result.

Test the promise before testing its layout

Write a title and description for one page and one reader task. This preview neither fetches the page nor predicts Google’s chosen text.

On a narrow screen, scroll the table sideways to read the verification column.

What you observeWhat to doWhat to retain or verify
A title adds a benefit, date or comparisonLocate the paragraph, dataset or reviewed comparison that supports the promise. Remove claims the page cannot answer.A visually tidy snippet can still mislead; content support is a separate check.
Google rewrites the resultInspect the actual query/result and delivered title, headings and body before changing every page.Save the observed query, time and device; preview output is not a search observation.

Work through the distinction

Teaching rewrite: “Complete guide” becomes “Desk dimensions: width, depth and room fit” only when those three decisions are actually explained. Do not add “best” without a supported comparison.
