Search Console security issues: clean up and request review
Read the conclusion first
Treat a confirmed security issue as an incident affecting users and systems. Preserve evidence, contain harmful delivery and repair the entry point before seeking a search review. Deleting Google's example URLs or restoring the homepage alone does not establish that the whole site is clean.
Applicable conditions
Applies to clear security notifications or verified security incidents, and requires qualified operations personnel.
Before you open the report
The security notice, example affected URLs, hosting access and a protected record of the incident timeline.
Use one concrete URL or report first. Keep account credentials and private visitor data out of shared notes.
Steps and verification
Define the incident and protect the evidence
Save the native issue type, first-detected date and example URLs in a protected incident record. Involve the responsible administrator or qualified responder. Do not expose visitors to suspicious content just to reproduce a warning, and do not publish payloads, credentials or private logs.
Examples are samples, not a complete affected inventory; even a notice without examples needs investigation. Preserve relevant backups and logs before destructive cleanup. Identify safe containment steps appropriate to the actual system while keeping the responder's access working.
Repair the compromise and its generating path
Investigate affected files, database content, accounts, permissions, extensions and deployment access according to the identified incident. Remove unauthorized changes and address the vulnerability or access path that allowed them. Rotate affected credentials when justified by the evidence.
Test known harmful paths and representative normal user functions after restoration. Check other templates, languages and subdomains in the verified scope. A restored homepage does not rule out hidden malicious routes, persistence or another compromised account.
Submit review after verification, then monitor
Once all reported problems are corrected and tested, use the native Security Issues review process and describe the actual cause, remediation and evidence. Keep request receipt and final review outcome separately, and do not submit duplicate requests while one decision is pending.
Continue monitoring for recurrence and retain unresolved evidence rather than declaring certainty from a disappearing browser warning. System security, Google's warning state and recovered search performance are distinct outcomes. AISEO Site is not a malware scanner or incident-response service.
Common mistake: Delete notification example URL and declare fixed
The example may only be a sample; you must confirm the site-wide impact scope and root cause.
How to decide when you encounter different situations
Match your actual observation to a row before changing the page. If it does not match, collect the missing evidence first.
| What you see | Next step | How to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Malicious content still public | Isolate first and protect users | Preserve protected evidence |
| Homepage restored but malicious URLs exist | Expand scope check and cleanup | Can't test only the homepage |
| Security review accepted | Continue system recovery monitoring | Review and security status recorded separately |
Restoring the homepage does not remove every compromised URL
Teaching scenario. Names, URLs and numbers illustrate the method; they are not customer or measured site results.
- What you observe
- Example: the homepage is restored, but attacker-created paths still return harmful content. The team is ready to request review.
- What it establishes
- A homepage test covers only one URL. Content cleanup, closing the entry point and restoring safe operations all need evidence.
- What to do next
- Protect visitors first. Involve the responsible hosting/security maintainer, review affected routes and credentials, and close the actual cause before submitting a review. Keep sensitive evidence out of public pages.
What counts as a checked result
Retest the notice examples and other affected paths from a clean visitor context. Record cleanup and review outcomes separately; a review receipt is not a full security assessment.
If a required check fails, keep the error and return to the matching decision branch. A blank record means unverified, not passed.
Leave with a checked result, not another vague instruction
- Your deliverable
- A protected incident handover and evidence that the confirmed compromise path was repaired.
- Stop and resolve this first
- Do not expose visitors to suspect content or treat a clean homepage as a complete incident test.
Record missing evidence in the worksheet below. An unresolved test is useful information; a blank field is not a pass.
Checklist for this page
Fill in your own check results, then decide the next step. Blank means not yet verified, not normal. Content is saved only in the current local session and is not submitted to the server or AI.
Frequently asked questions
Does AISEO Site detect malicious files?
No, it is not a security scanning or incident response service.
Is removing the warning enough?
No. Establish that the vulnerable access and harmful resources were addressed and maintain incident monitoring.
Official materials and usage boundaries
This page provides operational judgment and checking methods, and does not show customer success cases. Calculation examples and request samples are teaching materials, not actual website metrics.
